Hewson Grey – Dancing in the RainMy good friends in Hewson Grey are set to launch their very first single on vinyl – Dancing In the Rain – on June 17th (this Friday) at the Aviary – Arkavello and Sam the Living are also on the bill. The 7” itself is actually a split with another super cool local band, the Tophie Davies Band. Hewson Grey’s got this super-cool vibe, a complex mesh of indie, alternative, bluesy rock, and ambient psych, that, well, honestly, I think they’re one of the best bands in the city right now. Go check them out, I’m certainly hoping to be there myself on Friday.
Stuart gave me permission to stream another song that’ll be on their upcoming EP, called St. Kilda. You can listen to it below. The song, named for a Scottish archipelago west-northwest of the mainland (can it be called a mainland?) in the North Atlantic Ocean, is about Stuart meeting his now wife. You can feel the ocean beneath your feet, roiling, boiling, tossing you to and fro, as the song completes its journey.
Like I said, they’re awesome. Definitely keep them on your radar if nothing else.
